Atlant NAC: Day 1

Today started out at 6:00am Atlanta time, not a fun time to get up. We ate a wonderful breakfast at the hotel and drove to the venue. the Bout Committee worked like a well oiled machine, it seemed like five minuets after everyone checked in that we started fencing. I was in a pool of 6 other very good fencers. My pool number was 1 so I went through my bouts fairly quickly. I did not fence as well as I normally do because I was not moving constantly, but I fenced well for not moving my body. My V/D(Victory/Defeat) was 1/5, not the greatest but not bad either. Soon after the pools we started the DE's(Direct Eliminations). The fencer I fenced was an ok fencer but I picked up his weak spot and used it against him the final score was 15-11. The fencer I had for my second DE was a good fencer I could have had won the bout because we were roughly at the same skill level, but one of my new blades had failed. One of the touches I should have had did not register, so I asked for a halt in the bout the way Coach told me and the Referee told me that I couldn't do that, but he checked it anyway and before he was done he told me "I lied, you can call for a halt." I lost 15-10. I placed 60th out of 69, but over all it was a good day.

Training Day

The time of day I most enjoy is my two to three hour training session that goes on everyday. Most might find this comment slightly strange, but I enjoy sweating-not in all cases though-I only enjoy sweating when I know that I can get a shower afterwards. My training routine consists of three main workouts strength/endurance, speed, and a fencing specific workout that mostly consists of footwork. But that is only the physical side of things in addition to that I read a lot of books and play various mental games to keep my mind sharp.

The reason behind this blog.

The reason behind this blog is mainly for others attempting to go to the Olympics will hopefully have encouragement to journey on...at least until they get there then they are on there own. It is also for my family to keep track of how I am doing in Fencing-which is the sport that I am going for the Olympics in.

a little info 'bout me. I am in my late teens, I am a musician (just in case you missed the title), and i am an Olympic bound fencer...hopefully.

I hope that those of you who are-or aren't-planning on going to the Olympics will keep track of my long journey for gold...or whatever I get, either way I will be happy to just go and be there as an athlete.
